Auslan Big Breakfast

What is AUSLAN BIG BREAKFAST?

The aim of the Auslan Big Breakfast is to promote the wider Deaf community and its key language - Auslan (Australian Sign Language) - to small and large organisations, business leaders, state and Federal government organisations and the general community and as a result to provide financial assistance to Deaf Sport and Recreation Victoria (DSRV).

What is Deaf Sport and Recreation Victoria?

Sport is a huge part of our Deaf Culture and most deaf people play sport either within hearing teams or deaf teams such as the Victoria Deaf Cricket team.

Our Deaf Culture involves a bi annual Australian State Deaf Games as well as both Summer and Winter Deaflympics held every 4 years around the world.

The organisation overseeing and promoting Deaf sport in Victoria through education, information and organisation is Deaf Sport and Recreation Victoria (DSRV).

Their website is: http://www.dsrv.com.au/

As a result of the donations received from The Auslan Big Breakfast, DSRV will be able to continue running a range of sporting activities throughout Victoria as well as providing information about sport and health and sporting activities to primary and secondary aged Deaf children.

Additionally they will be able to provide sponsorship for promising and elite Deaf athletes to receive additional coaching in order to develop their skills to participate as an elite sportsperson as well as being involved in state games and Deaflympics.

More information about the Auslan Big Breakfast will be available in the coming weeks.
