Employment Assistance Fund
The Auslan Company aims to be the largest provider of Deafness Awareness Training (DAT) in Australia through the governments Employment Assistance Fund.
Currently we have several leading assessment organisations as our clients enabling us to travel around Victoria and other states providing DAT to small and large businesses such as Coles Supermarkets and government organisations such as Department of Human Services.
Our DAT sessions are totally flexible in that they can be delivered in 2 to 6 hours in one day or 2 hours a week over 2 to 4 weeks.
Best of all, they are FREE to organisations and businesses that employ a Deaf or Hard of Hearing person.
In the DAT sessions we introduce you to the following:
- AUSLAN SIGNS (you will learn 30 -100 useful everyday signs and sentences)
- DEAF SPORTS and DEAFLYMPICS
- DEAF HISTORY
- DEAF PRIDE
- DEAF EDUCATION
- DEAF TECHNOLOGY
- DEAF CLUBS
- DEAF THEATRE and TV
- AUSTRALIAN SIGN LANGUAGE
- AUSLAN INTERPRETING
- COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES
The DAT sessions aim to be informative, enjoyable and interactive with activities involving the whole group or people working in pairs to communicate in Auslan.
We provide the following at our DAT sessions:
- Handouts to each staff member of the Auslan signs taught
- Certificate of Attendance for each staff member
- Power point presentation
- Interpreters
