TODDLER SIGNING FOR LIFE
As a parent, are you fed up with your pre-verbal child's tantrums?  Do you know why he is always throwing a wobbly?  Maybe we have the solution for you.  At The Auslan Company's "Everyday Baby Sign" classes we teach frustrated parents how to communicate with their pre-verbal and young children through sign language.

This is not a fad.  Since the 1980's parents in America and England have been using sign language as a way to assist their pre-verbal children to communicate their needs to them.  Pre-verbal children learn quickly what they want, but as their vocal chords are not developed they cannot express their needs to those around them.  Parents, thinking that the child is whining for a drink, will be shocked to know that the child was actually wanting the toy over there but was stuck in his high chair and thus threw a tantrum because you gave him something he didn't want.

If you had taught your child sign language, no tantrum would have ensued because you KNEW exactly what he wanted.  There is a huge difference between KNOWING and GUESSING what a child wants.

As we have proven in our Toddler Signing for Families courses we piloted in 2009 amd 2010, we have demonstrated the benefits of teaching Auslan sign language to pre-verbal children aged 9 months to 2 years and toddlers aged from 2 to 5 years.

The immediate benefit is in pre-verbal children from aged 12 to 24 months who start signing within two weeks, so for the first time parents can understand exactly what their child wants.  Because they know what their child wants and are able to give it, there is less frustration and tears resulting in a more emotionally balanced child which, as we know, is vital in the early years of their lives.

Children don't just sit there in the pram as you walk around the park or shops.  They see, hear and observe much more than adults do.  Imagine your delight if a child chooses to communicate with you by signing 'dog' or 'go park' or 'daddy where' and imagine your delight in being able to sign or verbalise back a response to your child.  For the first time you are shared their innermost thoughts before they can talk.

The Auslan Company is developing a NEW baby signing course that is based on the feedback and information received from parents over the past 2 years.  This is the new "EVERYDAY BABY SIGNS" course of 45 minutes over 6 weeks.

The course is designed to be fun, interactive and practical and through rhythm and movement you will learn over 100 Auslan signs including signing nursery rhymes and  traditional songs.

We have created a new Auslan sign language book despicting over 80 useful every day signs such a colors, family, animals, food and drink (and more!!) that can be used by parents and their child.  The book shows how the signs are formed, but even if you don't understand how to form the signs you can watch the new DVD that has Samantha showing you the movement of each sign so you will ALWAYS know how to sign correctly.

The Auslan Company also runs Auslan classes for the general community and professionals as well as ‘inhouse’ Toddlers Signing for childcare centres, kindergartens and schools.
